This coin was covered in a very thick encrustation. I was immediately struck by its beauty as it came out of electrolysis. I think it shows that artificial repatination after electrolysis is unnecessary. Also, I like the reverse. It is trying to depict Sol passing directly overhead in his fiery quadriga, but because the Romans had not understood perspective the horses are set off to the side. |
